About Me - Julia Reid

Originally from Gloucestershire Julia grew up south of Cambridge and attended Grammar School and College there. Having qualified in Hotel Management she moved to The Peak District for a summer job at the Youth Hostel in Edale, met her future husband and never returned to her studies.

She is married to Stuart, they have four children and still live in Edale.
Photography has been her passion for as long as she can remember.
She is currently working as a freelance photographer, and having completed a two year HND course in Photography at Sheffield College, then went on to obtain a BA (hons) degree in photography at Bradford College.

Julia is an Associate member of the Royal Photographic Society and a member of the British Institute of Professional Photographers.
Although her work is predominantly digital at the moment, her passion is large format photography and she loves working in a traditional darkroom.

In August 2004 she was one of the official photographers for the World Fire fighters Games, a charity event, larger than the Commonwealth Games. Competitors were either serving Firemen, their partners or ex firemen and they attended from all over the world.

In June 2005 she was employed by Nikon Cameras as sole photographer touring the country, from Glasgow to Kent, for the “Face of Eve” competition roadshow, run annually by Eve Magazine. Her brief was to photograph women over the age of 30 who aspire to being a model.

Some of her images have since appeared in “Eve” magazine.
In the past year she has worked on images for a cookery book, photographed holiday properties for a national company, and for two publications by the Peak District National Park Authority.
She has a number of commissions currently on the go, and also teaches photography to individuals and small groups in the Edale Area.
